Default Newbie here! Help with identifying 4th Gen 'box from vin + pics

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie from England, i've got a '71 'vette and a '51 Studebaker, having recently sold a '71 Camaro

I've been offered a 4th Gen Camaro for sale and was wondering what 'box this car has as I was hoping to put the 'box behind the Gen 1 SBC in the Stude, I know it's a 4 speed auto but i'm a bit confused as to the electronic side of it and whether it's suitable

I'm even struggling to work out what engine it has, It's a V6 but not sure what one.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Ok i've managed to get

-Canada
-GM
-Chevy
-F-body
-Camaro
-Coupe
-3.8ltr (L36)
-1996
-St Therese
- then the production sequence

Ok so it seems it would have a 4L60-E?
1 2 3 4 R
3.059 1.625 1.000 0.696 2.29

If so is the jump between 1st and 2nd a bit radical?
How do I work the 'E' part with the non 'E' gen 1 small block?

Here's the car it'll go in

Folks make stand alone computers for people putting electronic autos in older vehicles. Do a search on Google and see what you can find. I know that it has been done before.
