Default newbie on cam and smaller gears

I've heard lots of talk about cams and i want to know what cam is the best option and how much work it is to put in. I've also been thinking about getting smaller gears, like 3.73 or 4.10, and i wanted to know if that was something that would be somewhat easy for someone with little experience working with cars and what you need to do the install besides just the gears. any help would be much appreciated.

You will want to have the gears installed by a shop, there are some special tools you need and getting the mesh right is critical. As for the can it depends on the rest of your mods. A cam swap is a good mod for sure, but it should be done after you do all the regular bolt ons. You will also need a computor tune to make the car run right with a cam swap.
