Hi

I drive a Cadillac CTS 2008 3.6 AWD, but I have no decided that I need a conv. for summer-crusing

I have found a triple black 2000 3.8 V6 with only 24.000 miles.

What should i watch out for and do you have any good advises (besides buying a V8)?

Normal car stuff on the 3.8. Ask if the head gaskets have been replaced. Seem to be a weak point on the v6.

Ask about the intake gaskets, not the heads. The intake gaskets seem to be the weak point in this engine. If they have been replaced the replacments do not have the leaking problems.

at 24k you cant go wronge if the car was taken care of... these cars always seem to have a problem or two after 150k... its weird.. but theres always the handful that get to 200k+ without a problem

Listen for excessive noise coming from the rear differential -- whirring or grinding... If there, you'll need new bearings, PITA/not cheap.

As a side-note, getting a V8 convertible is too much fun -- ya don't know if ya want to cruise and enjoy the open-air, or actually use that V8 under the hood! ;-)
