I've already removed the airbag and steering wheel but don't know what to do from here seeing as how my Haynes manual isn't doing me any help whatsoever. What do I start removing from here and how? Thank you for any advice!

I have been meaning to tear into my column to fix the looseness and I was going to do a write up. I just have not got there yet. Replacing that part is pretty deep into the column. It is a lot to ask for a first timer. Do you have the special tools required? Your going to need a spring compressor and away to pull the pivot pins. There is a bit of debate amoung mechaincs many say when your tearing the colum down that far you should just pull it and do in the bench. It makes rerouting the high bean rod, the ignition rod and the turn signal switch cable a little easier. Does you car have cruise? What a pain that can be.

I can do a 3rd Gen column blind folded but I have yet to do a 4th gen.

Thanks for all the help guys (shout out to crabman), I may need to tear into it anyways, I may have accidently tripped my hazards and now they wont go off (car didnt come with a hazard switch, just a nail sticking out?) what color is the hazard wire? I can't just "take out my hazard canister" under the knee bolster because then my blinkers wont work

Getting to the turn signal switch to turn off the hazards is pretty simple. You have to go a lot deeper to replace to replace the part you bought. Since you have to completely remove the turn signal switch it would be a good time to replace it.

You say its simple, more simple than putting the new housing on? If so I don't even need to replace the housing, I just need to turn the dang hazards off Help me out Gorn!

should be two flashers, one for blinkers and one for 4 way flashers, unplug the one for the flashers, at least there used to be, have not had to work on that part of my car yet
