Do you understand what a 383 is? Depending on what motor and parts you get you may have to do some milling for clearance in the block but that is not what makes it a 383. Its the new crank and longer stroke that make it a 383.

350= 4" diameter piston and a stroke of 3.48"
383= 4.03 diameter piston and a stroke of 3.75"

The 383 came into being when race teams started putting cranks out of 400 in 350s. It became so popular companies started making convertion kits which require a lot less machine time.

Don't expect much money parting out used engine parts. Craigs list is full of guys that upgrading their engines trying to sell their stock parts. Most of those adds time out.

BTW LT1 can also be made into a 396, 4.03" Pistons 3.875" Stroke :)

If the price was real cheap then I would have picked it up.
Lol but I'm starting my list and unfortunately I don't have the money all right now but if anyone has parts they are selling that I can use I'll definitely be open to buying them.
The hard hard thing about finding a wrecked 383 is that most people are gonna pull their engine if they wrecked it.

ok i understand now thats what people mean when they said they bored the block .30 over cuz it is the extra size of the piston.
So the big difference is cam piston and piston rod?

You should hit the books on how an engine works. Maybe a few youtube videos. Its way to much to type.
