Will the key even turn when it is in the ignition? Or does it just not want to start?

The same exact thing happened to me with my 94 z28. All that i had to do was put the car in neutral and role it backwards then it started right up. So i would give that a shot

sometimes if you have your wheel cranked too far when you shut it off it won't start. with the limited info that's about all we can say

I guess you all missed the fact that the security light is on, which would indicate the VATS is keeping him from starting it. I would try and disconnect the battery for a while, hook it back up, and try to start it again. If that doesn't work, then I would looking to getting a new key or ignition cylinder.

Stan could be right although its a pain in the *** and you have to go through a dealer its well worth it, so it doesnt happen again.
