Default new guy with a question

Most of you will think this is a stupid question. Can you put a V8 in a '97 camaro with a V6?

I'm wondering because I'm trying to find a dirt cheap 4th gen. camaro and tune it reach 400 hp but i've noticed that V6 camaros are cheaper than V8 camaros but V8s get more hp.

I bought a 94 V8 for 4500 with an estimated 400hp to the crank.

you need to look at it financially.....

to buy a cheap v6 and do the v8 swap will probably run you as much as just buyingthe v8 initially and doing some minor mods. Also in doing the v8 swap you will need to upgrade the front suspension, all kinds of wiring upgrades needed, exhaust upgrades....too much to list.

IF you can afford it buy a Z28 and a old beater honda or better yet a Geo Metro (3cyl.. incredible mpg) and beef the **** outta the Z with the money ur saving on insurance and gas... THEN u wont have to run the Z ragged with Daily driving. I woulda dont that if i had planned it out but now ive got insurance on my Z and no money lol. I would have liked to have gotten a 2nd MAYBE Carbbed 3rd gen and a beater DD and beef the Maro for weekends/summers and track runs.

A V8 swap into a V6 would cool if you have money, time, and another car to drive in the meantime. It may be as much money as buying an SS/Z28, but you could be getting a brand new engine in there.

Swapping a v8 is not a big deal and won't take that long, if you know what you are doing it shouldn't be more than a 1 day job

Ive never swapped an engine before so chances are I'd probably screw up somewhere.
