Hi everyone… so my daughter is about to turn 15 and someone gave her a 1995 Camaro 3.4 V6… it’s a deep purple so we named it Barney. Lol ! Anyways… I quickly found out why it was free… someone dropped a 2” T-bit on top of a piston and tried to start it. Long story short… the piston was cracked… like bad…. And I rebuilt the motor completely with new plugs and everything. After getting all the other stuff buttoned back up and all the wiring reattached… I was excited to cruise this nightmare for a test drive to get fresh fuel and test her out. Well… needless to say… that test drive didn’t happen. I brought in new fuel and tried a ton of things… but now I’m stumped. Her birthday is October 8th, and I would love to get this running for her.. especially after all my efforts and costs.

What is it doing/not doing…. It cranks and tries to turn over, but doesn’t. No power to coil pack, no fuel to injectors or spark plugs.

What I have tried…. All fuses are present and are good. OBD-2 scanner, resulted in no communication with the car. Looking for a new crank sensor but the GM part number I have 10137663 is discontinued and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I suspect it’s VATS related.. so I tested the key to get the code and ordered a bypass jumper wire from Ricks Camaros/Ecklers… no idea when that will arrive, as I can’t get anyone on the phone there. Possibly fuel pump, I have another one to put in… just dont want to drop gas tank if it’s the vats or crank sensor.

Plan of action… while I wait for the vats bypass, I’d like to see if I can get any codes from a scanner…. Can anyone recommend a scanner that will work or is rent-able thru O’Reillys? How can I test the crank sensor ? Where can I purchase a new crank sensor ?

lol… I know this is a lot for my first post… but I’m just at a loss here… I’m a Buick V6 girl and this car just makes me want to find the closest cliff !! Sighhhh….
