Default New Camaro Owner

Just joined the forums and looking for a little bit of direction. I have been looking over threads and stickies and trying to get an idea of what to upgrade first.

Just purchased a 1999 V6 Camaro with 93,000 miles on it. Everything performance wise is stock. I have a general idea of what I'd like to upgrade but am curious if this is a viable plan. My plan is outlined below.
  • Cold Air intake by K&N.
  • Dual exhaust. Looking at Flowmaster and Borla. Borla is quite a bit more expensive, the downside. Opinions on this would be appreciated.
  • Performance chip. I have found all kinds of different options here ranging from $70 to $400. Not sure where to proceed here.
  • Pacemaker ceramic headers.
Not looking to make something to race, just more enjoyable for everyday driving. Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

first need to look at your state or countries emission laws. long tube headers is a good idea and passetters ceramic coated is a great way to go. borla seems to be the exhaust of choise for most of the 3800 guys. if i recall right the 99 has a good air intake system so you may just need a wisper lid and high flow filter.

Welcome to the board. Personally I wouldn't really mess with a chip, like craby stated check out your emissions for the LT headers as you may not be able to pass inspections and such. I have pacesetters that I will be putting on my '02 Z soon, also I would get the Borla over flowmaster for the catback.

The chip is a scam. You can get a tuner and that will actually work, but those cost around that $400 price tag. The 3.8 doesn't have any (i believe) options in longtube headers; the pacesetters are midlength. The intake is solid on the 3.8's but a SLP CAI is a worthwhile investment. From there, a catback is the next logical choice and I would advise against the Borla and its cost. Magnaflow is another very popular brand and is quite cheap as well, $400-450.

Well I am attempting to post some pictures here and running in to some difficulties. I'm following instructions from EvansBlue and not seeing the same screen he's showing. Hopefully I can figure it out here soon and get something up.

use photobucket. open free acount, download pictures, copy IMG code to your post and it shows picture.

Sorry, dont mean to hijack this thread, but any of you know of a good place to pick up aftermarket parts or replacements parts online or around SoCal?

Go to your photobucket account, and hover your cursor over the picture (no click).
4 different code choices will fly out below the pic. Click on the "IMG" code, it will then say "copied". Then right click here and paste it, and you get.....
