The new alty was faulty I guess, no power coming from the rear wire. The connector was fine.
I just installed the old alt and it works perfect for now, the voltage just fluctuates a bit pulsating the headlights at night- no big deal which was my original problem with it. They are sending a replacement with the correct pulley and computer tested. Hope it works!

Thanks for all the help guys, now I know how to test the new alternator that will eventually come in.

Sometimes new doesn't mean flawless, which is why you want to start with checking the basics, at the alternator then work your way out to the wiring. Sounds like your current voltage regulator is funky. As long as it stays above 12 volts.....

The dash voltage does not fluctuate much, maybe between 12-14v. Tesing the battery with my DMM does show a slight fluctuation that could be the cause of the headlights pulsing. Ill wait for the warranty return and see how it works out.

Thanks again for all your help, I have a much better understanding now.
