ok i need a new alt but want to get a 240 amp so it will charge the deep-cycle i have in the trunk anyone know of a good brand thats not too expensive

tuff stuff seems to make a good starter at a fair price, have not had any issues with the gear reduction i have, not sure on alt though.

you are going to need to order one form a specialty shop. There are a couple of builders at SMD.com but they cost alot $$$

yah i just looked and the biggest i could find at summit as 200 amp.

That kind of system do you have? i doubt you will need a HO Alt

its a 1400 watt power inverter i do mobile mechanics and me and my boss run the air compressor off it

I got a boss hoss, I think, 250 amp alternator a few years ago and it's worked great for me. I don't know the website anymore.

ugh sorry dont really know much about running tools off a car but it doesnt sound like a good idea. Check SMD.com they will tell you in a heartbeat.
