Look for the original marks on all parts of the car; hood trunk engine that will help you see if it was in any accident also look at the fenders next to the door hinges for space between the door and the fender also if the fender is sticking out from under tulhe car

On tops of that dont forget to check the cosmetic damage the chairs check if they got leaked on (be especialy specific while looking at seats in a t top car) any marks on the dashboard or the gages see if the door windown and door pannels look like they have been messed with check the inner roof padding for any hanging spots or tears i forgot to mention but checo the spare tire and if able to make sure it works because i bought mine and it dosent fit haha craigslist rules and at the end you need to remember that a car no matter what make or model is still just a machine best of luck on your hunt

The car will be 14 - 18 years old if an LT1 or 9-13 years old if an LS1.

So, in other words, you are looking at older vehicles. If the price is under $3,000 then assume the interior will be tired, the tires worn and the brakes need replacement. Expect that some major engine or tranny work is going to be needed in short order. Expect the seals to be leaking from the engine as well as wheels, and if it's a northern car, the bushings will be shot.

Do not buy the vehicle and then immediately think you are going to modify it for more power like you could if the vehicle was only 3-5 years old. If you add headers, CAI and a tune for 93 octane then chances are that tired tranny will wave buh bye.

So, what's the best thing to look for? Why your bank account because you will be spending more than just the purchase price. Go into it with your eyes wide open and your emotions left behind at your house.

And the red flags

"overheats but only needs a waterpump which is $120"

" transmission needs fluid change which is only $50"

" transmission is a little sloppy but a shift kit fixes that"

" runs OK but new plugs and wires will make it better"

" makes a ticking noise but the rockers only need to be adjusted"

Plan on spending $5,000+ a nice '93-'97 Z28 and $8,000+ for a nice '98-'02 Z28.
