stb is to stiffen the front. these bodies flex and yes the stb is a minimal improvement add on. it does help on corners and with engine torque flex. not so much a problem with the 3.4 but can develope with 3.8. the shock quality dictates ride quality and you will see the bigest difference with new shocks. next would be sway bars another big improvement add on, then i would rate the subframe connectors next with a small improvement but are imo needed with over 350hp. if bushings in the control arms are failing that can degrade the ride and or make some nasty noises so check them out.

why do you recommend the sub frame connectors before shock tower brace?

In my opinion, because the subframe connectors will do more than the STB. Most people look at them from a performance stand point, but I usually look at them as something that'll benefit for the life of the car. Over the years, uni-body cars tend to sag in the center. Subframe connectors help straighten that problem out and prevent it from happening again.

But Craby gave a nice list in his post of where to start, if those have not yet been done. You still haven't told us what you plan on doing with the car.

You never really said what was important to you and why type of budget you are dealing with. I think the 98 still has those restrictive cast exhaust manifolds, headers are a nice upgrade if you already have the Cat back. If you can not afford the big dollar sway bars you can buy the factory SS parts for around $100 even. Also if you car is not a Y87 car a V8 rack and pinion is going to be noticable upgrade.

The supports these guys are talking about would only be felt in the more extream conditions. These are not sloppy cars. If you tires are not howling I doubt your flexing the body very much.

Im a broke college kid to be honest. I just want to look at options and a reason to be able to work on my car. Im not really worried about gain HP cause my parents would have a heart attack soo. im just really going for looks. I would love to dress up under the hood and make it look as nice as the outside of the car does. But i appreciate all the input so far! Keep it coming!
