Default Need some help

Hi everyone, Im turning 16 soon and am thinking about buying a 4th gen Camaro. Im hoping you guys can offer some advice for buying a 4th gen. Also abou how much would it cost to own one? Im starting part time at a little under $8 an hour. Will that be enough for insurance and parts for the car?

First of all you should consult an insurance broker and see what the rates are going to be. You can also go on line and many insurance companies will give you a quote. A 16 year old with no driving experience is going to be scalped. It would save you money if the car was titled in your parent's name, and submit you be the principal driver. Be honest on the application, as it can cause big problems in case of an accident. As for parts, it depends on the condition of the car and how you beat up on it.

Thanks. As far as the condition, I have been looking at mid 90's models with around 120k miles on them. I wouldn't beat on it much either. I'd probably only put 3k miles a year max and would try to maintain it as well as I can.

Thats kinda what I figured. Would one of these cars be on the high end to insure a 16 year old?

I turned 16 about 8 months ago and ive had my 1998 v6 with a 5 speed for a little over a year now. I paid $2750 for it with 121,000 miles. Insurance is quite cheap, its titled with my dads name and its about $100 a month to insure. If you live where it snows like minnesota i would not drive it in the winter, my rod bearings melted them selfs to the crank the first big snow storm (2 feet). That cost about $1300 to fix. if you can i would get a 96 or newer, they have the 3.8 replacing the 3.4. you get 40 more hp and better mpg.

Thanks guys. Great to hear about insurance, I thought it would be twice that. Another thing I was wondering, how much would it cost to put black leather seats in a Camaro? All the ones I've been looking at just have grey cloth.
