Default Need a Quick Answer on Wheel Size

If a set of TT were on a 95 T/A they should fit my 93 Z28 right? Tire sizes are 225/50 front and 275/40 rear.... not 100% on pffsets... but I saw a pic of them on the 95 T/A. Does this sound ok. Price is $400. with tires..

I asked him and he said theyre all 17 inch. From my calculations the fronts are 112.5 mm and the rears are 110.00 mm will the 2.5 mm make that much of a difference?

So should I make a move on these for sure? Even though the rears are 10.5 ? No rubbing or anything like that??

huh????

it's called "aspect ratio" or a percentage in height based upon the width

the concern must be overall tire height or diamter

a 275 40 17 is 275mm wide or about 11 inches

it is a 17 inch inside diameter and the sidewall height is 40% of the 275mm

so let's use my quick math and you get a 17 inch rim diameter and 40% of almost 11 inches (twice) so, carry the 4, square root of 69........nah, 4.4 inches plus 4.4 inches = 8.8 inches plus 17 inch rim diamter and you get approx 25.5 inches of tire height but you need to factor in a wee bit more because the tire has fresh tread

let's look at the 225 50 17

225 mm is about 9 inches wide and 50% is 4.5 inches twice is 9 inches plus the 17 inch diameter and you are at 26 inches. The front tires are a wee bit taller

so, don't get caught up on the aspect ratio. You need to consider width, rim diameter and aspect ratio and get to tire height which is what should be your concern

to the OP.................nah, i'm not saying anything except I'm glad you are out looking at new wheels. You already know my feelings

I believe tire rack and many of the other on line places have tire height calculators (maybe cam69 will come in and let me google that for you)

let's do it together. Let's say that I got a sweet deal on 18's for the rear and I'm running 275 40 17's up front. If I want to stay at 275 width and I know my height is about 25.5 - 25.8 inches I need to figure out how to get 7.5- 7.8 inches of sidewall (divided by 2 for aspect ratio)

40% would yield 8.8 inches and 30% would yield 6.6 inches so it must be a 35 aspect ratio

or, I move to 295 width and let the fun continue

You're gonna get rid of those salad shooters? Gonna bring a tear of sadness to T.I.G.'s eye. (sorry, "in a tigs eye" just popped into my head, gotta save that one for later)! lol
400 bux is a pretty good price, unless the wheels are badly curb gouged and the tires are skinned.
And to the cross-fitment, the Camaro and Firebird are F-body's, built off the same platform.
They're just wearing different skin to throw you off the scent.

another benefit of getting wheels from a 93-95 F body is that they will already have had the hub opening opened on the rear for the rim to fit on. If you get wheels from a 96 and up or aftermarkets you need to open the inner hub of the rear wheels by 1/4 inch. It's not that big a deal but it's one less thing you need to do.
