Hi all,

I am looking to get a Z28 stock cd player replaced with a new head unit with CD, mp3/ipod, bluetooth etc etc and I have a few questions.

The installer shop wanted to know if the sound system is amplified or not as they have not had experience of a Z28 in England, no surprise there.

So is the stock sound system on my 1998 Z28 with a cd player on the central dash amplified or not and is there a way of telling for sure, maybe using the sticker on the left door?


Also if there were any other points then I need to be aware with when getting a head unit installed them please let me know.

do you have the bose or monsoon system, both have amps

 

How do you know? So the stock systems had amps?

 

base model did not. look at your production codes, they will telll what came stock in your car. monsoon has like 10 speakers. bose has amp in speakers for front and amp for base in back on driver side.

My sticker says a UN0 so that means I have the AM/FM Cassette ETR 200 Watt Monsoon Sound System w/CD player.

Does that mean I have amps then?

yep you have a 200 amp amp. i believe its under the dash. lol. i like to use crutchfield to see what fits and what needs to be done. heres some info
