Default My Mom wants a Camaro... Read.

My mom is in love with my car and wants one. She is not a Power hungry 16 year old. lol Me... She just likes the looks, and feel of driving it. I was told nothing over $5,000. I was thinking, should she find and older 3.4 with low miles or a mid to high mileage 3.8..? I mean, she thinkd her 2000 v8 explorer is too fast so, I was thinking 3.4. But is that even enough power to pass people on the highway? She is an angry driver...lol. I know there 160 hp, but I know people have them here so...are they good?

This car is going to be put through Town, construction and highway driving. So my question is. Whch one feels the most like my car? Suspension wise, not power.. Or are they the same... If I find her a good V6 I get $500 for my car, so I really need some help!

3.8 and as new as you can find. Around where I live in FL there is minimal value on the sixers and no insult intended. Folks want the LS1's and then LT1's not the 6'ers thus they are priced very low.

Yes, and it's in the newer vehicles vs the 3.4

That would depend on what you mean by "better" If you base that on HP, fuel mileage and longevity then yes the 3800 is a better motor. A stock 3800 will spank a stock 3.4 at the track and it will get better mileage on the way home.

Good luck in your search. "My" car was actually my mother's before she passed away...her previous " 'maros" were an Iroc Z, and Firebird Trans Am (think Smokey and the Bandit...you can't make this up). I took possession of hers and cleaned it up (it sat undriven for about 6 months) about 8 months ago. Having only driven full sized trucks for most of my life (30+ yrs of driving)...this is almost always my daily driver now.

Dad used to say she had two speeds...wide open and turned off in the driveway.

I think she's happy that the car's been "restored" to the road again. The engine's clean, tuned, added a K&N air filter, free ram air, and new tires. I've also replaced the headlights and the taillights. Someday I'll have it repainted.

everyone dogs on the 3.4 so bad,,,, i loved mine, granted the 3.8 is a little more fuel effecient and faster but the 3.4 still have enough kick for your mom, and going with a 3.4 car you will get better miles and cleaner body for the same price as the 3.8, just something to think about
