A good friend of the family has a 95 camaro. He said it has a v8 with no compression. I dont know anything more about it. He said it only needs the engine rebuilt, but he has no idea what hes doing as far as rebuilding goes.
So I'm getting it for $1000. I found alot of engines in my area that I could snag for about $500- 800. What do you guys think?
Edit. I don't even have a picture of it yet....

depends on what shape its in, so long as its not totally trashed you can easily get your money back parting out. if your planning on keeping for long term then get rebuilt sort block with heads and move everything (intake, oil pan, valve covers etc,,,)from current motor. what trans? why was motor blown? was he beating the crab outa it. drive train may not be happy. from pictures it looks to be in good shape, also looks like a base model,,, v6?

It looks like it’s a stick and If it is V8 then that is a 6 speed. That is a real good deal because you can sell the T56 for $800-$1200. Low miles used motors are getting harder to find but they can be found. New is always better
While you have the motor out plan on doing the clutch and the just replace the hydraulic system. I think you can get the whole hydraulic system for under $200 from the dealer. Not sure how much you have messed with the 4th gens but the motor should come out of the bottom. Just pick on one of my build threads to see what you are getting into.

I plain on doing a full restore and giving it to my wife for her daily driver. Shes driving my jeep commander right now. As a traveling nurse, she puts alot of miles on what ever she drives. I've never worked on any kind of camaro except my 2nd gen. With the help of this site and google, I think I could rebuild any kind of camaro.
