most reliable transportation?
in my family its my 225,000+ 94 Camaro 3.4......compared to my wifes 04 vw beetle which is at 104,500 and just had the valve body, differential and trans all crap out at the same time, wtf!
anyone else have a story like this?

haha sucks doesnt it. I have an old 1994 Mazda familia with nearly 200,000 miles never had any problems vs my 2002 Holden ute (which has an ls1) have a lifter fail at just 60,000 miles costing me thousands $$.
my 1997 z28 has been relitively pain free although I have been spending quite a bit recently fixing various leaks. I guess thats what happens when its not driven often.
I wish I had mechanic knowledge to work on cars myself, think of the money I would save.

I've heard the AMT (Automatic Manual) transmissions VW has have a lot of issues too. Same goes for the mini van they make, cant remember the name of it now for some reason though. Anyways i had a transmission go in my z/28 at around 106k but it was abused and the case broke. It destroyed the converter and burnt up the clutches and the rest of the internals when it backed off the front pump and failed to pump fluid through it. Stuff happens...
Damn. That's some nice mileage. Must be routinely taken care of.
Probably best vehicle I owned was a '95 F-150. Had the 351W and never once had an issue with the drivetrain. I routinely made 30 mile round trips to, at the time, girlfriends house and unintentionally went probably a week straight of driving with no oil. Found out it didn't have oil after noticing small oil puddle in the driveway. Only reason we got rid of it was cause the body went before the engine.

My friend is a big VW fan and he got his girlfriend in on liking them too. Her car is a mid 2000s and is starting to rust through on the quarters. My Camaro is 20 years old and not a spot of rust....and she even sees winter.
My 3.4 has 234xxx and is still running strong as ever. I vouch for them. With what I've put mine through, it should have blown up years ago. It continues to take a hell of a beating every day seeing the redline!
a 5,500 pound "mini-van" !!
I have a '94 Chevy 3/4 ton truck with 380,000 miles on an untouched engine, no smoke !! and a rust-free Florida body
