Default misfire p300..ect

97-3.8l v6 manual...the last time i posted was over a few issues, we payed a guy to come to the house, hooked up his machine code read as p300...he looked it over and drove it said everything sounded great,he couldnt find a problem with it, other then the misfire, told us to change the belt and the spark plugs, did the belt but not the plugs yet, said the check engine light on was prolly no big deal and go off and on, well hubby was driving the other day to the store the light blinked 3 times went solid, after he turned the car off and then on the light went off and a day later it can back on at high rpms, stayed solid and then at the end of the day blinked 3 times and went back to soild, hubby says he doesnt get it bc it still runs great and clutch does not slip, no hard shaking, no leaking...the only thing is every now and again i smell buring rubber like i left the e brake on..thank you, i hope i can find some good advice

DTC P0300 is multiple random cylinder misfires. This means that various cylinders are randomly misfiring. This could be caused by an ignition problem that affects most cylinders or a lean fuel condition. Or it could be a problem with the Cam Position Sensor or its associated wiring. Misfires are more prevalent as the speed and load on the engine increases. I suggest taking a good look at the coil packs, ignition control module, and checking the fuel pressure while the engine is working at full load. By the way, changing the belt will not fix the problem, but new plugs may help.
