Default LT4 Valve Spring Swap

I want to install 1.6 rr's on my lt1. I don't plan on changing cams. I believe that I should change the valve springs and since I don't plan to change the stock cam I figured that something around the lt4 spring would probably work just fine. Not too hard on the stock pushrods while avoiding coil binding etc, that would probably happen with the stock springs. I did a search and got conflicting information so I wanted to know do I need the lt4 spring shims and caps to get the right installed height, or will the installed height be ok with the lt1 caps and shims?

I dont quite get what you are doing here. You are not changing the cam and I am guessing you are leaving the lifters alone as well but you want to put in stronger springs on your valves. I have one question... Why? The LT1 engine had springs that were more than adequate for the job. The only major weakness that I can remember in the LT1 valve train was the teflon guides that GM tried in 92-93 which were warrantied out with bronze if the car's with them started burning oil. If you dont need to change out the springs for a larger cam or weakened springs then I would just leave the stock ones alone

Stock springs are fine for the 1.6 RR's

Default lt4 springs

This is what I found when I was searching. Some folks say the stock springs are adequate for 1.6 rr's but others say absolutely not! I guess I'm just going to have to use my best judgement on this. I appreciate your opinions and response. I was reading on another forum where a guy had stepped up to 1.6's with the stock springs and he had coil binding on two cylinders at about 5800. Apparently, he bent two pushrods and may of had piston/valve smack issues. I have no intention of following in his footsteps! My plans are to do the 1.6 upgrade and install longtubes onto my hooker catback. I currently have the mods in my sig and run 13.80's with a 2.1 60 ft. time on street tires. It feels like the car needs to breathe better on the big end, and, I figured those mods and then re-datalogging the car to see where I'm at with my tune would be good steps in helping reduce those times and still maintaining drivability.

if using 1.6 roller rockers you will need to measure for you proper pushrod length. or just use 7.1. https://camaroforums.com/forum/93-02-general-41/measuring-checking-push-rod-length-51829/
