LT1 vs LS1: Cost Effectiveness
#11
I love Hondas. They're hilarious...VTEC kicked in yo! hahaha
To be honest though I wouldn't mind an H22 or K20 in a light enough body. Compared to Chevys they're slow and they get you pulled over, but they're big fun.
The rest (including b16, b18, b20 etc) are garbage.
I guess my best bet is to just maintain my LT1 car for now, save up, and buy an LS1 car.

He might've as well gave it to you for free. How high was he?

Wait, did you buy it for 4500 or did you spend the 4500 on the mods yourself?

Both the LT1 and LS1 are small blocks. They are similar in more respects than they are different, and will respond to similar mods with similar gains.
But, if you are comparing a completely stock LT1 to a completely stock LS1, then the LS1 has the edge. Heck, given a few more years of R&D over what the LT1 got, go figure that the LS1 has a few ponies up on the LT1.
But, if you were starting with bare short blocks, you would get very similar numbers for the same money.
Since you already have the LT1, I'd personally work on building it up.

I heard the GSX keeps breaking its tranny when you launch it too many times so I'd probably find a GS-T, it's lighter and it's cheaper too. One of my friends is really thinking of getting one.
Biggest problem with Camaros is weight. 3500lbs is more than most import 4 doors.

I'm trying to think what if I did an LSX (not LSx) swap. I'd need new rear end, new tranny, and whole lotta money on labor. I'm trying to add it up for an estimate but can't make even a rough estimate. Anyone?

ok so are you talking about putting a ls1 in the 94 or buying a ls camaro? it would be a cheaper to get the same hp out of your lt1 if you are keeping the 94. im seeing 4 to 10k depending on if you do all the work or someone else does it and what trans.
