How much money do you have to blow? And what exactly are you looking for?
I don't have much to play with right now but I want to start with something and stick with it.

I love Hondas. They're hilarious...VTEC kicked in yo! hahaha
To be honest though I wouldn't mind an H22 or K20 in a light enough body. Compared to Chevys they're slow and they get you pulled over, but they're big fun.

The rest (including b16, b18, b20 etc) are garbage.

I was thinking something along the lines of that. The difference is around 2-3k if I want one with decent miles on it. I know people who can do me a swap for $1200 labor, but with the cost of the engine it'll be even more expensive. In which case I might as well find an LSX crate or something.

I guess my best bet is to just maintain my LT1 car for now, save up, and buy an LS1 car.

Wait, did you buy it for 4500 or did you spend the 4500 on the mods yourself?

If you're talking about just the fastest car you can have for cheap, buy an 1999 AWD Eclipse GSX and just put a massive turbo on there. But my LT1 is no whimp. 383rwhp with some bolt-ons, heads and a cam.

Both the LT1 and LS1 are small blocks. They are similar in more respects than they are different, and will respond to similar mods with similar gains.

But, if you are comparing a completely stock LT1 to a completely stock LS1, then the LS1 has the edge. Heck, given a few more years of R&D over what the LT1 got, go figure that the LS1 has a few ponies up on the LT1.

But, if you were starting with bare short blocks, you would get very similar numbers for the same money.

Since you already have the LT1, I'd personally work on building it up.

If you're going to start dumping money into one of these cars, the LS1 is the way to go.

Yeah man those Eclipses are fast, even the older ones (if you build them). I was actually looking to get one as my "gas saver car" lol.

I heard the GSX keeps breaking its tranny when you launch it too many times so I'd probably find a GS-T, it's lighter and it's cheaper too. One of my friends is really thinking of getting one.

Biggest problem with Camaros is weight. 3500lbs is more than most import 4 doors.

Makes sense.

I'm trying to think what if I did an LSX (not LSx) swap. I'd need new rear end, new tranny, and whole lotta money on labor. I'm trying to add it up for an estimate but can't make even a rough estimate. Anyone?

ok so are you talking about putting a ls1 in the 94 or buying a ls camaro? it would be a cheaper to get the same hp out of your lt1 if you are keeping the 94. im seeing 4 to 10k depending on if you do all the work or someone else does it and what trans.

If I wanted an LS1 I'd buy an LS1. I'm talking about LSX...as in the 454LSX etc.
