It has nothing to do with actual efficiency (yes, I'm going to nit-pick your word choice...), like I've said many times before: The LSX series make more power out of the box and per mod because they have a much better designed head than a traditional SBC.

I personally love my LT1, I wouldn't trade it for an LS1 Camaro because I don't like how they look nearly as much. If you really want an LS1 car save up and go for the one you really want, don't short yourself or you'll always regret it. Unless you need a car save your money (and if you actually need a car buy a beater FWD 4-banger so you can save on gas).

RE: lt1 vs ls1 again!
IN SHORT THE LS1.... Is a better engine then the LT1. If you compare the two stock for stock the LS1 vs the LT1 is going to crush it in every way possible. Now thats not to say the LT1 isnt a good durable engine. Or to take into consideration the price factor. If you are going for power and trying to go fast on today's scale you should probably go with a LS1. The LT1 can be beffed up to run with the newer enignes but its going to take a little bit mroe work.

RE: lt1 vs ls1 again!
well said ! all these replies are all good and true but it comes down to wich one you want more ? you want the lt1 or the ls1 the lt1 is cheaperto buy but the ls1 is cheaper to make power b ut you starting out with more horsepower already ... i think imo the lt1 sounds better not knocking the ls1 cause they sound mean as hell too i personally like the lt1 better but thats me i like the body style of the ls1 it just comes down to how much your willing to spend on either car you can buy the lt1 for around4-6 grand with 265 horse or buy a ls1 for like 9 or 10 with 325 horse now to take a lt1 and make it 325 horse your gonna spend a couple grand ya know so to get the lt1 pound for pound with the ls1 you be around the same ball park ya know give er take a couple thousand but imo there both badd *** cars and youll love either one buddy good luck with the buy !!!

the ls1 head just supports much more flow at much higher rpm than the lt1 head does. efficiency is the effectiveness of using a power source which has more to do with the way the air is combined with fuel, not how much
basically, a 6pack 440 flows much much more air than a d series civic. but which one is more efficient?
