Default Lt1 strut bar

hey i read somewhere that these strut bars that connect ur two shock towers in the engine baytogether keep the towers from flexing. in doing so this makes ur car handle better and allows it to have better acceleration, because its holding the body together better. i know the handling aspect would be true but i think the acceleration increase is a bunch of crap. what do u guys think cuz these damn bars are $70.

The handleing part is true, as far as acceleration in theory it would help because you would have less initial energy from the motor going into torqueing(twisting) the body so more of the energy would be able to be transfered to the rear wheels. In a real application I doubt you would notice much if any difference, but hey, they do look kinda cool. If you want something to improve acceleration go for some weld in sub-frame connectors, they will help.

The clock may notice a bit, but you're better off saving your $100 for something bigger and better, such as a CAI, cat back or headers/Y-pipe (in that order).

well i live in california so i need to pass smog so headers isnt really an easy thing to get and i already have a catback and a CAI so a strut bar will be my next upgrade.

Since you're in Cali you can still get shorty headers with a mandrel bent Y pipe, seriously it'll get you much more than a strut bar ever would.
