It is not a "difficult" swap. It will be time consuming and can nickel and dime you to death to piece together everything needed to do the swap.

What you will need:
Ls1 wiring harness and ecm (you can get an aftermarket harness from painless wiring)
Ls1 specific T56 and clutch(or 4l60e if you want to go auto)
Ls1 slave cylinder
98-02 ls1 K member
Ls1 radiator

Those are the basics to the swap. There are many more smaller items that will be needed to do the swap. unless you find aVERY good deal on an ls1 engine, it would almost be worthwhile to sell the lt1 car and get a 98-02.
If you are dead set on keeping the LT1 style car (like I am), you should look for a wrecked ls1 f body to use as a donor car for a COMPLETE swap.

That is what i did for my LT1 swap. I found a wrecked 6 spd 97 Z28 and used everything off of the Z to put in my 97. I was looking for an ls1 swap, but at the time (a little over two years ago), I could not find a completels1 engine, harness, and ecm for less than $4500. Now I see complete ls1/t56/ecm packages for $2500-3500, and somtimes wrecked cars for the same price.

BTW, what kind of problems have you been having with the LT1? If you can work the bugs out,a properly moddedLT1 can perform as good or close to an equally modded ls1. The superior heads on the ls1 are what gives it such a performance advantage over the LT and its poor flowing stock heads. Put a good flowing set of heads like an Advanced induction ported stocker or ported TFS with a matched cam and all supprting mods, you'll have a car that can run low 11s at full weight (possibly 10s if you play your cards if you go with the bigger heads and cam package). You can run well into the tens with a little weight reductionn (or a power adder )

As far as I knowyou need an ls1 specific K member.

If you havefive or six grand to do the swap and dont mind spending that much, you can buy a running ls1 car nowadays for $5000-6500 (I have seen some go locally for as low as $4500).

Swap evertthing into your lt1 car. Sell the rolling 98/up rolling chassis for $1500 and sell all your old lt1 stuff. You could have the swap done for as little as $3000 out of pocket after all is said and done.

Because I like the looks of the LT1 car so much better than the ls1 car, The other option that I have thought about doing was picking up a 98-02 and swpping the LT1 front clip onto it for the best of both worlds[sm=burnout.gif]

my main thing is i cant find a ls1 6 speed for my price and the 383 lt1 would be just as expensive and i feel that id eventually be able to get more hp out of the ls1 and i dont wanna sell my car and start wit a new car because all the suspensin and the seats i put in it id be loosing alot after i did it all again i found multiple ls1 engines on ebay wit wiring harness and computer for 1500-2000 i figure i could sell the lt1 for 800-1000 the slp headers and y pipe r about 900 brand new so i could get some cash for them as well as a intake TB and cam that r brand new that i hav for the lt1 so i feel that doin a swap would be cheaper then a new car and be capable of more hp then the 383

I think there are some suspension parts that are interchangeable; like, quite a bit. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You can make 400-420 to the tires (which is more than 450 at the crank)with a H/C package from advanced induction on a stock displacement lt1. Spend the money on having the block decked and torque plate honed for proper ring seal. The factory rotating assembly is pretty stout. It will last a long time if you keep the rpms within a safe level and dont get crazy with nitrous.

Here is a link to some AI customer results: http://advancedinduction.com/AiPerfLT1.html
Check out the 200cc lt1 head package. You will not be dissapointed if you go with that set up and all the supporting mods.

To answer your question, you can make the power that you desire with your LT1 for much less than it would cost you to swap and mod and ls1.

As for your seats and suspension, the seats will swap over to an ls1 car, and most of the suspension will too. The springs would be the only questionable item. contact the manufacturer to see if they will work on an ls1 car.
