LT1 and LS1
ls1 = 350
lt1 = 275
At the crank.
ls1 ~ 310
lt1 ~ 240
At the wheels.
I honestly hope you don't think the lt1 was rated at the wheels, and GM all of a suddendecided to rate the ls1 at the crank.
GM underrated the ls1 from the factory at around 300 horses. However, the ls1s in the camaro and in the corvette are exactly the same. Both are 350 horses. (In fact, the camaros live rear axle will dyno higher than the corvettes, which means *gasp!* camaros 'make' more power than corvettes.) The lt1 was essentially rated correctly, give or take 10 horses. Chevy would have to be insane to rate one vehicle at the wheels, then rate the next at the crank.

I like the way a lt1 sounds better than ls1 but ls1 have the power I have found a couple ls1s going for 2,500 to 4,000 depending miles thats here in Va I am thinking of getting a Rs camaro and swaping a ls1 into it but i am going to keep my lt1 til i die
no, lt1's are around 235-240 at the wheels. 275 crank. there is a very large gap in stock performance which accounts for the nearly full second difference in times. low 14s to low 13s.
as for pay more for, i looked this all up for spartan. header prices were about the same. intakes are cheaper for the ls1 since we only need a lid. all other major exhaust components are comparable in price. the camshaft themselves are the same, as are about any SBC cam (specs dont affect the price of the cam). valvetrain stuff i didnt look up, but i got my entire valvetrain for 400 bucks from thunder racing (rods, springs, seats, seals, retainers... the works)
i cant imagine a valvetrain kit for an lt1 being that much cheaper. after that the only thing left is heads and internals. i didnt look into that but most heads are in the 1k-1.5k range for ls1's. sure u can go all out and spend 5k on a set of heads if u want, but i can get CNC'ed 243 casting heads for under a grand with a professional port. thats pretty comparable too. from what ive seen the difference in price for a full bolton HCI car will be less than a grand, and it can favor either car depending on how frugle the owner is.
and reggie, the cars sound is 99" due to its exhaust setup. 5.0 mustangs sound just about the same as the 4.6 because of the hpipe setup and the motors are nothing alike. lt1s and ls1s sound fairly similar with similar mods.
