LS1 swap?

RE: LS1 swap?
I wouldn't even know how all that would work seeing as how they are two different diagnostic systems. Oh, and come to think of it you could have the cat code tuned out by someone who has HPTuners.

Ah, that's one thing I forgot to ask: I'm not big on how the computers work and everything, I'm still researching. I may be mistaken, but tearing off the cat. wouldn't screw up the function of anything, right? Sweet, I'll check the dyno page... With a little tuning, intake, and headers, I should be able to get beyond 400 horses, right?

Heck yeah, I know I can't get 400 rwhp without a cam swap. I may swap the cam eventually, supposing I get this motor. That depends on how it drives in my truck. If it's enough kick to make me happy then I wont change cams, if I want more I'll swap em.

RE: LS1 swap?
you will eventually want more power anyway...so if you're going through all of this work, you might as well change cams as well while you're at it. you will absolutely need a computer for an ls1 and the whole wiring harness. it won't be an easy swap, but its doable

RE: LS1 swap?
there ARE setups out there to run an ls1 as a carbed motor. the 6ls ignition from msd is designed to do just that. also, there is a company that makes complete harnesses. harmless? maybe thats the name. something like that. might be painless

harmless?
im thinking about going the LSx truck route myself. i want to sell the camaro in spring and get a 99+ standard cab short box silverado/sierra with the 6.0, drop it, bolt ons,and have some fun with it.

RE: LS1 swap?
Well, ok, here was my plan: I was going to find both the motor and transmission, and get the computer with it and drop it all in at once. There are some ppl in my area selling these Camaros for $2500 or less, with less than 75,000 miles on them. SO, I was thinking of maybe buying the whole car, tearing out everything I need (maybe even the guages) and parting the car out after I'm done with it. And actually, I think you're right whammer.... I'll just get a cam and put it in before I install it, I'd rather not have to go through the trouble later... Will the computer adjust or do I need to get it tuned for the cam? I know the older systems need to be tuned if you do too much over a stock cam, but as I said, I'm not very educated yet on the more modern systems. And since it comes to that, Cam recommendations anyone?Still a DD, but let's shoot for more like 400rwhp instead of 400 bhp.

yes you will need to reprogram the computer for a cam change...you should after your basic bolt ons as well. i forget if you wanted to have it as an auto or manual? if auto you will need a bigger stall for most cams out there
