LS1 or LT1...Whats better?

RE: LS1 or LT1...Whats better?
I never said that it makes MORE power, I said it makes more down low, in other words, same as what you just said, only I worded it differently. Should have said peaks lower...
As for the tuning responding better for an LS1, i dont think so, as with my Vette i picked up about 8 HP on the dyno, and 14 with my LT1, same guy at the same shop did the tune. And as I stated before, I never said that the LT1 was better, Its all in peoples opinions. My opinion, I like the LS1, but the LT1 is a good proven motor. I have nothing bad to say about either engine.

RE: LS1 or LT1...Whats better?
you didnt hear me right.
at any given rpm I made more torque than the lt1 with a curve that continued to go up to 4500rpm. the torque thing is a commonly held misconception because the lt1 is considered torquey while the ls1 is considered to be a top end motor. this is only because of the slope of the curves, doesnt say anything for relative ammounts. as compared to my stock dyno, there is no time that an lt1 is making more torque. now that i have a big overlap cam I make **** poor torque down low, but it builds like mad afterwards, but the same would be true of a big cam lt1 if it were running similar specs

How can you say an LT responds better to mods? First the LS1 heads are leaps and bounds better than the LT1, second the ECU takes to tuning way better. Also I don't beleive that the LT1 makes more torque at any givin point than the LS1, it does peak lower, but does not make more torque.

I also dont see how you call a motor with water as its kryptonite more reliable.
But ya, I've only owned a LT1, so don't really have much room to compare. I somehow think this person posted this just so everyone would start a lt1 vs ls1 fight though haha.

my lt1 had 175k on it and like a stupid a$$ i raced it every weekend with a 75 shot, my buddy had an ls1 with a 125 shot and has 121k on the motor, neither of the two cars showed any signs of slowing up. Both motors are great and i rather have an ls1, technology factors, tune programs ect, but im happy with the lt1!!! soon to be a 383cid!! my two cents!
