Weather this has been talked about before or not im going to ask it in my own way. When I change the oil in my 98 ls1 I put 5qts in and its always Full. Now people tell me I should use 5.5 but it always fills up at 5. So what should I do? I don't wanna add to much

 

Fyi. Even though its full when i change it after about 1,000 miles it uses some. So if i dump the 5.5 in will it hurt anything?

 

are you starting it up and shutting down and then checking. im assuming your changing the filter? dont overfill.

 

yes everything gets changed. I know mine eats some then i have to add some. So if its full just leave it?

 

it takes a half a quart to fill the filter, when you start it it fills the filter and any jornals that have drained when you took the old filter off. i fill the filter before installing if i can with out spilling, cuts any time the motor is running without oil. yes you do not want to over fill the oil. if it reads full its full. lol.
