Default Looking at an LT1 engine. how much should i offer

Ok im looking at an LT1 out of a 97 Z28 with 86,000 milesto use as my rebuilt/stroker.I dont need any of the accessories, just the block, heads, valve covers and the intake manifold. How much should I offer him? I was hoping i wouldnt have to spend any more than like 300 hundred. Idbe goingto him, taking out the engine and all that myself so he wouldnt really be doing anything than accepting my money.

Heres the craigslist ad:

oh yeah and the guy lives in the same town as me... He asks me how much i think its worth and how i plan on getting the engine out because its in a storage unit. Ive got a friend with an engine hoist and a access to a truck to haul it away.

a complete LT1 is worth 1,000 bucks. cylinders are part of the engine block.

No way, they cant cost that much! its not new and its nothing special, just a regular old LT1 with a good amount of miles on it.

Hell, a complete 3.8 costs at least $400, so I would expect the LT1 to be more.

A core 350 goes for $150, your not going to get a lt1 out of a camaro for $300. thats lower miles for a old motor. unless the guy says he will part out the engine, $1,000 bucks is fair for a complete engine. and if you think you are going to pull it out yourself, why wouldnt you drop it from the bottom?

a remanufactured 3.8 costs ~2800 after core charge.. just block and internals. looked into it already. thats before my mom's discount too tho [8D] 40% discount FTW.

that car being crashed, you could prolly get it for 800. i've seen alot of crashed LT's on craigslist in ym area go for around that. and they arent even as bad as that. they were salvagable. maybe like 500, if he doesnt know what he's sitting on, engine wise.
