Looking for a 4th gen
I am looking for a 1995 to 2001 Z28 coupe, what are the good and bads of each year, improvements etc.
What should i be aware of as i go to see cars?
Which year did the 6 speeds come out?
Thanks
Keith

Take a look at some google images and the 97 and the 98, the body changes. Also the 98 up is going to be a LS1 so the price jumps up going from 97 to 98. The 6 speed showed up with the 93 but it was a slightly different configuration then the 94 up T56. LS1 6 speeds are pretty pricey but then again just the engine and trans can sell for 3K depending on the mileage.

Just remember, as with all 10+ year old cars, its condition will be more a factor of how its been maintained and used and less about how good the orginal design was. I know of a couple LS1 owners that are on their 3rd motor in less then 150K and I know of one guy that still has a 79 Chevette. The Chevette has never let him sitting. How it is driven it and maintianed definds most used cars. (FYI most 79 Chevettes where in junk yards before the 80's were half way over)

now, back to the OP
if the ugly front end of the 98-02 Camaros don't bother you then buy as new of a vehicle as you can afford. Forget the LS1/LT1 stuff. You want as new of a vehicle as possible with as good of interior and exterior as you can afford.
I specifically went shopping for a 93-97 because I didn't like the fronts of the 98-02's and I wanted a Z28. If I wanted an LS1 then I would have gone Trans Am shopping because I find the 98-02 looks to be better than the Maros of the same years
Since this is an opinion thread then you have my opinion
good luck with what ever you find but don't come back here without photos
