I had one on my first RS. I wouldn't say what I had was a CAI, though it did sound like most. All it did was take the restrictive junk out, and put a tube in it's place. Goes from throttle body to stock filter housing. I liked it at the time, but that was years ago, and I'm not sure how it compares to the one I currently have. Literally about ten years ago, is when I had it.

On my 3.8 the TB and MAF are one unit, so it went from that to the stock filter housing.
EDIT: Here'swhat you're looking at getting... Looks different then what I had. This is an actual CAI.

That system, just like K&N or Moroso goes from the end of the MAF down in front of the wheel well, like I've said many times before, go for the one that's cheapest, all the good aftermarket ones will flow about the same, there's only so much room for tubing under there and I'm pretty sure they've maxed it out. Look at cross-sectional area of the tube and how smooth it is, that's what matters.
