I've noticed on Ebay that you can buy Camaro keyfob remotes for factory fitted keyless entry 97-2002.

Having just brought a 97 Z28 this weekend which has the new interior, 5 spokes etc.. and is definitely a 97, it only came with 3 standard looking keys (one for doors one for fuel and one for the ignition with the little resitor chip thing) I was kinda dissapointed that I had to use the tiny little door key that feels like unlocking a shed door rather than a sports car and of course no central locking is triggered this way.

Does my car have remote open/lock and can I just buy one of these keys and program it to my car (they say it comes with instrustions to do so) or was it only fitted on some models? is there an easy way to check?

I think if yours has power locks and windows then it has the Keyless entry. The previous owner probably lost the little key fob

 

to be sure check where your spare tire is to see if there is an alarm sensor.
or if you have a red light blinking on your dash im pretty sure youd have to have keyless entry
