Just bought a 99 Z28 6 spd
Hi everyone!
I just bought a 1999 Z28 6 speed. The last time I had a Camaro/Firebird was too many years ago. I'm primarily an absolute Corvette nutcase and repair them (63 thru 96) as a part time job so I can afford to play.
This car is absolutely awesome!
I have a grandaughter and now my wife and I can use a performance car and have her with us!
LS1, 6 Speed, T-Tops, Monsoon Stereo, red exterior with black interior.
Everything is stock. No squeaks or rattles.
1st things to change:
Stock wheels suck. Will be changing those out.
New speakers all around.
Just did new brake rotors and pads yesterday.
Stumbles between 2000 and 2500 RPM. Replaced TPS with no difference.
I'll work more on that one.
Change to 4:10 rear as I have with a few C5 Corvettes I've owned. I've found that is the most cost effective way to "wake up" these cars and still have excellent fuel economy with the 6 speed.
I'm going to have fun with this one!

Don't go 4.10's on a stock rear. The C5's didn't have to put up with the ****ty 10 bolt the fbodies do; they'll snap axle shafts under stock power levels and gearing. Hell, I've replaced a bad shaft and bearings on mine already, and its only a bolt on 6 spd car. Best bang for buck will be headers and tune. Easy 15+hp with just the LT's. Not uncommon to see full bolt on and tuned fbodies hitting 350rwhp.

even still, the 10 bolt will still explode lol. i bought mine with the rear end problems; bought it from the original female owner with 45k on it lol, dont think she ever powershifted it
I'd step down to 3.73 gears. Your car will still be "woken" up and you won't have to worry as much about having the rear end take a dumb when you want to have fun with it!
Anyways, nice choice of car. Not a fan of t-top cars though.
