Default Just bought a 1994 1le camaro.

Hi Guys. Hope to be hanging out here quite a bit. Just bought a nice 1994 1le Camaro w 150ish on the clock. Has 37k on a fresh GM built engine that's been nicely modded (will have list and pics soon). The car has been painted and the interior is nice. My concern, is there is rust underneath the car. nothing major from what I can tell, I mean I live in upstate ny where they salt the roads and life pretty much sucks for cars...I know there is not much to go on here, but should I be concerned with a little rust on the undercarriage?

If it's a true 1LE car, I would certainly address the rust and prevent it from coming back as 1LE cars are hard to find. However, even if it is not, I would still address the rust as it doesn't take long for it to become a bigger problem.

On cars driven in our salt laden winters, surface rust and crust is "normal". But it can/will turn into rust holes if left alone.

So maybe rust proofing or undercoating? Its not on any body panels or anything. Just subframe etc. on the underneath of the vehicle. The car is a 1LE, I work at a Chevy dealer, we just took this on trade. The mods are amazing and the car is a beast to drive. The tech that's doing the UCI on it told me his one concern is the rust underneath. He knows I've had other clean cars before, so I think hes just covering his butt...should I rust proof something that already has rust? not sure how else to prevent it.

i got a 99 3800, july ran great no leaks ,but found someone let it sit in the grass an may have drove it in the snow ,took it to have it inspected at ford dealer thinking was solid ,5 holes an more rust then i ever seen under a 4th gen failed .so couse my 95 was so solid an 99% rust free, i asoomed ,couse of the ground effects even harder to see,so i tell guys to bring a jack with them, now it my town we have a guy from our body shop ,needed the 5 holes filled drivers swing arm an sway bar i was lucky to find them used in great shape painetd them ,then he gave the under side from radiator on back permatex undercoating,$640.00 125.00 for the parts an labor i thought was well worth it ,still solid car ,an i am good to go inspected safe car now ,but i was very surprized to see that,so lesson learned ,an hear one can do pre buy inspection too,now only thing was that i still got a pretty solid car for 3000.00 with 88.000 miles, now i will check it every year ,but yes that the best thing you can do now is spray the whole under body, its on thing to have a window thats slow ,but to have a swing near rusted right through, thats safety issue,it can happen to us all but you looked ,was interesting to find that 27 of 51 states of no safety inspections ,wich i am glad we do hear ,those states must have more accidents,if the had been no holes an no parts to replace 100.00 to spray the undrecarrage ,you can do it yourself ,i had bought 6 can of stuff from walmart ,he used the professional stuff ,an now i will use the walmart stuff on my 05 sable winter car,oh i was going to say not many camaro owners drive thse in winter unless they just are not thinking ,or got no other choise ,my 95 was allways stored never seen snow ,thats keeps the rust way down on these cars
