Default Jerky when accelerating

I have a '95z A4. A month or so ago, when accelerating from a stop at half throttle or more, the acceleration is pretty jerky and not smooth at all, enough where the tires wont even lose traction when floored. Yet it goes away once I reach a little more than 2k. After that it's very smooth. It's the same thing if I try moderately accelerating from 50-60 when its in 4th just cruising at ~1500. It's bad enough where i have to just give it enough throttle to make it downshift.

I've found a few posts on the internet with the same problem, but i could'nt really find anyone who resolved it. Someone mentioned it could be the fuel pump, and mine is on its way out because it wont hold pressure after it turns off. I have to either crank it to the accessories 3 times or pump the gas. Also, the idle is not the smoothest while idling once warmed up.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and had resolved it. I don't want to spend 400 bucks on a pump, opti, plugs and wires and still not resolve it. Thanks.

test the fuel pressure regulator and your evap system. do you have a cat on it? have you had it scanned for trouble codes yet? could be as simple as a new gas cap.

It has the stock 2 cats. No lights are on, but I'll get it scanned for codes soon and try to find someone with a fuel pressure tester.

I've been helping a friend with his mustang recently (yeah I know, badmouth me all you want) he's dropping in a built 347 with a vortech v3 i believe. Should be done with it today

Don't worry about the opti until you get low resolution codes.
