I have an intermittent problem with the chime in my 1998 Camaro. The car has the resistor pellet in the key, factory anti-theft system, power doors, etc.

What's happening is that all of a sudden, on occasion, the chime does not turn on when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to the RUN position. The chime always came on before (3 times, if I remember correctly). Why would that chime stop working?

When this happens, it does not affect the ignition. The car still starts, runs, and drives; and no lights or alarms go off.
