Default intermittent Air Conditioning blowing cold

Well, first I have to say this forum has been great. I have posted a few problems and always have had great help. Now I have a new problem. Again, this is my son's 95 camaro, 5.7L engine, manual tranny.

The air works intermittently. It will operate and blow cold then other times only warm air. The compressor seems to not be engaging at times. New fuse, relay and all that. He had his auto teacher look at it and reviewed the electrical schematics. He is leaning toward a PCM. But what I have read here is that they tend not to fail. So far we have no consistent clues.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

if theres not enough freon it will cause the clutch to not engage its all based on pressure and the hotter it is outside the less pressure youll have, id check to see if thats full first

Your complaint would be consistant with low refrigerant. Have you checked the system pressures?

Do what the guys said and check the refrigerant level, but I'd also watch the compressor while the car is running. if the pulley looks wobbly then there might be something going on with the compressor. My Camaro had intermittent cold air and the clutch was on its way out.
