Default Increasing Performance

Hi all. I'm brand new to the forum and have a general question. I have a 2000 Camaro SS, bone stock. Bought it brand new and it now has about 107K miles on it, but it is in great shape. Interior is excellent. Exterior needs a paint job. I'd like to increase performance but don't know a whole lot about doing this kind of stuff myself, so I'll have to hire someone.

Can you folks recommend several things I could do to improve performannce and estimate the cost of the job?

Thanks!

first things to do would be bolt ons. new lid, headers, ORY, cat back exhaust, LS6 intake, and a tune.

You're kidding right? I have no idea what you just said (except for the tune).

my bad... the lid is the cover over the air filter, the aftermarket ones allow more air flow. headers are your exhaust manifolds (the big cast iron things on either side of the engine) but a lot better flow. ORY or off road Y pipe is the pipe that takes your 2 headers and combines them into 1 pipe (better flow). a cat back is exactly what it sounds like its the exhaust from the catalytic converter back to the tips. and the LS6 intake comes from an LS6 engine, it just flows more air than your LS1 intake. all this is to make your engine "breath" better, which in turn creates more power. the more air you can get in and out of your engine the more horse power you can produce.

That all makes a whole lot of sense. Thanks!

What are your end goals for the car? That will define what upgrades you make to the car.

No one likes all show and no go. But like BC said, I'd take a crappy looking car that could run 11s all day at the strip than have a 100% perfect condition car that ran 15s.
