Default idling/oil pressure

my car keeps idling very strangly.didnt think anything of it at firstbut now its getting even worse.sometimes the car will start and it will sit fine and 700 rpm or sometimes a 900 rpm.but then others ill just be sitting at a redlight and it wont go below 1000 and other times ill be just coasting through the parking lot and it wont go any lower than 1500 rpm even when i fully stop and put the car in park.its very spontaneous and im not really sure what is causing this.my oil pressure gauge also seems to be kind of low running more like 20-45 once its warmed up.i dont know if thats related to the rpm problem or not.if anyone has any ideas on either of these problems im having i would really appreciate it.thanx(p.s. i know there was a post on this before about the idiling but i couldnt find it when i looked for it)

Is the SES light on? Have you tried unplugging your MAF? Have you checked your TPS?

Check for vacuum leaks, such as cracked hoses, etc. Also look at the IAC valve (intake Air Control), which controls the idle speed. It may be crudded up and binding. If you remove the IAC, do not attempt to move the plunger by hand, as it will strip the internal mechanism, but you can try cleaning it with carb cleaner.

As a rule of thumb, the oil pressure should increase by 10 PSI every 1000 RPM, until Ii reaches the relief spring pressure at 70-80 PSI. Oil pressure normally drops as the engine temp increases, the amount of change depends on the weight and quality of the oil.
