Default I wanna Beat an STi :@

ok soo I have a 94 Z28 A4. My roomate has a 04 STi. I HAVVVEEE to beat him and I need help on what I need. Right now I have a PCMforless computer, Catback and a shift kit. Now from what I have read I should get 230 to the wheels stock...plus the couple little things I have done.

Now he also has 230WHP stock (his car is bone stock) and when we race he wins by about 2 cars at 100. Heres my questions

A) If we have the same HP to the wheels and we race from a roll, why does he pull on me soooo hard?

B) What do I need to do (within reason) to beat/run with him?

Those STI's have at least a 3.90 rear gear, some are even geared near 4.20. That's why they are so quick off the line.
What they lack in low end torque, they make up for with gearing.

well I understand that he will beat me off the line, but when we race from a roll (50mph) he still just pulls on me...

Has to do with the gearing itself too. You could always install a small supercharger for good measure.

what do you think would happen if I got it dyno tuned? Does that make a BIG difference or is it not worth it.

A 2004 USDM STi has a 3.90 final drive, so that's only part of your problem. The STi is also quite a bit lighter than your car and is going to get better traction off the line due to it's AWD. You're going to need at least a set of Long Tube headers to get some more power and maybe some tires that are a little stickier so you can hook up better.

Is the STi stock, or has he modified it?

You'll probably need the bolt-ons and some decent tires. That's within reason haha.. kinda. Good luck!
