Well I was driving down the highway just fine and then the clutch had no pressure whatsoever. Find what I think is the slave cylinder hanging on the ground.

There was only one bolt holding it on and that one snapped off at the plastic part that was holding it on. Is it possible to just buy the plastic part that has the holes for the bolts or do I have to buy the whole damn thing? Thanks for any help.

I did search by the way but I wasn't really sure what I was looking for so it wasn't too helpful. Also its a LT1 and 6-speed tranny

It appears as though the upper nut took a hike once upon a time, which put too much stress on the lower mounting ear. How good are your fabricating skills? What you could do is first glue the broken tab back onto the cylinder (for lining up purposes only, not strength). Then get a thick large diameter washer, and cut some notches in it so you can get it to clear the reinforcing ribs and span over the face of the master cylinder. You could trim the reinforcement ribs a little for more clearance, but I'd want to keep that to a minimum, they're there for a reason. The washer will then sandwich the master to the bellhousing.

 

^^ good idea, i was thinking the ears where missing now since he was driving, but i see one still bolted on.

If the other ear is still on the slave, you could jb weld the other one on. with the Jb weld still wet place a washer into it for added support for the plastic. Allow 24 hours to cure, and bolt it back up.

Edit: The washer as to be big enough to slide over the stud, i have sen people forget this.

 

Well unfortunately i dont have those fabricating abilities right now. I guess ill have to try and buy a new one. Does it matter which way it goes in? By that i mean if its rotated/spun 180 degrees abd bolted in, would that create too much pressure or mess it up more? The car is left at a quickie mart 30 miles away so i have to get it back here first.

 

Put the trans in gear, start the engine and GO!!! Just hope you don't have to stop at a red light, or avoid hitting someone in front of you.
To fix it, at a bare minimum all you need is a vice, hack saw, and a bench grinder. Do you have any of those at your disposal?
I understand if you can't fix it, but I'd much rather spend 30 cents on a washer compared to 30 bux on a new slave cylinder.

 

Idk where u got $30 for a new one. I called a dealership and that was $243. Then a couple little stores and all were over $200

 

They must be selling you the whole master/slave/line assembly. Your car is a Z28 right?

Just a heads up, its pretty common for cars that come in with damaged clutch linkage/slave cylinders to have an issue with the clutch. What I think happens is the pressure plate starts to fail a little at a time. The clutch get a harder to push but just a little harder each week. It can happen very slowly so the driver does not notice it. Then the clutch linkage finally fails. If the new slave fails in the same way in the next few weeks just plan on a new clutch.
