The pros of the V8 is that you get 85 more horsepower and 110 more ft-lbs of torque while sacrificing only 2MPG in the city and 5MPG on the highway. At the time that I bought my car, the insurance on a V8 was not much more than a V6 in my area. So the V8 is a much better option.

Well I have both a V6 and a V8. Here is my take on the 2. The V6 car is alot more fun to cruise in. The ride is smoother, quieter and to me the car is more comfortable to drive. The Z28 is a fun car and I love to take it out and play. Lots of power on tap, can chirp the tires at 45 MPH squat the tail and get up to 100 in a matter of seconds. She sounds good but is not as smooth as the V6 car is. Both cars are fun but for different reasons.

Thanks for all the replies. Do you guys drive your Camaros on snowy roads?

I know season tires/studs help, but just wondered how bad RWD is on the snow.

Nice cars! I'm actually hoping the one I was looking at is a v6, mainly because of what you said, and I don't really need a v8 for where I live. I'd still buy it if it is, though.

I drove both of my cars in about 6" of snow we got right before turkey day. They do about like any other light RWD I have had the pleasure of driving in the snow. Not the best I have driven but not the worst either. Oh and Sarah did alot better than the Z did... funny thing about that too is the Z has all season tires and traction control, Sarah has worn out Z-rated performance tires and no trac. I think it is because the v6 is balanced a little better with the lighter engine.

Did you pop the hood? Just look under the hood, that is the biggest tell-tale sign. Does the car have a hoodscoop on it? It'd be pretty awesome if it was a SS anniv. edition.

I much prefer my v8 for cruising over a v6; smoother the v6 may be, but it still sounds like a v6 and while cruising I want to hear that rumble.

I popped the hood and looked under it, but didn't do any big "inspections" since I was just checking it out. Next time I'll request a carfax and do a real good inspection, and try to get someone who knows a lot about cars to come with me to get a 2nd inspection on it.

The hood did have scoops, it actually looks EXACTLY like this, except red. Hood scoops and all.

Thats what the front end looks like with the same exact hood scoop. Just red.
