Default I NEED ADVICE from everyonee

Ok soo i go back and forth with this in my head all the time and i would really appreciate all of your advice on this because theres no community who's opinions id value more on the subject of my car. the main debate that goes on in my head is weather or not its worth it to dump money into my car to get it to be how i want it to be, or if i should just save up and buy a low mileage ls1 ss. now heres the specs on my car its a black 94 z28 lt1. the odometer reads 140000, but the motor was rebuilt at 60000. also at 130000 my head gasket blew so the whole top half was basically rebuilt again. other problems include the gas guage being off due to the tank needing to be dropped and the speedometer randomly not working, the jackasses who fixed the head gasket crack an exhaust manifold so now theres a leak from there, the interior is shot too.. the original owner put 411 gears in so my gas mileage is ****ty lol oh and its a hard start usually i have to crank it 2 or 3 times to get it going and ive already replaced the starter... so PLEASE let me know your opinions on what to do and how much im looking at just to get the car clean again if i do decide to keep it...

If you are gonna keep it then you need to learn to work on it yourself. If you only have other people work on your vehicles then stick to something newer.

Some of it depends on how attached you are to the car you have. If it holds some sort of sentimental value to you, then fixing the car might be the way to go. If not, then selling out of this car to get an LS1 model would be the more economical solution. It sounds like you are facing mechanical and electrical issues with your current Camaro.

I vote the ls. Sounds like that lt isn't treating you so well and giving you problem after problem. Plus, the ls looks more visually appealing...imo...

ok, so if you fix the problems you mention will you be happy with the car??

With regards to the gas gauge, it could be the fuel sender unit that is dodgy, need to drop tank or cut a hole in the rear trunk area to get to it and replace it. If the speedo doesnt work it could be the sender unit for that also, although im not familiar with LT engines or the 6 speed for that matter im sure on the gearbox there is a sender that tells the ecu how fast the car is going. Read this, i know there trying to sell stuff but the info seems right:

http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Spe...eedometer.html

also mentions air/fuel ratio etc, as the 4.11 wont make the gas milage super bad, it could be linked to the whole speedo thing??

You can get some interior on ebay or from a wreak for cheap enough

If the manifold gasket is blowing this will also affect gas milage and the o2 sensors are not getting all the signal and think the car is running lean cause gas is escaping, hence i believe it will richen the mixture. If you have enough cash for headers get some longtubes and fit them with new gaskets

It really depends what you want!!
