Unhappy I can't drive!

So today was my first legit race in the two years I've had my car. Story: I was making a U-turn after coming out of my apartment complex when a yellow 06ish Lancer decided to race around me. Well he caught me off guard because I had just short shifted 3rd gear and I wasn't able to keep him from passing me and getting in front of me at the next light turn lane. So coming off the turn I wasn't quite straight when I slammed down the gas in 1st gear and my tires spun like they were on ice.. flustered I was able to recover and get it into 2 gear and catch up to him. However while keeping my eyes on him I forgot to watch my RPMs and found myself wondering why my car had stopped getting gas when I realized I was in the red. So I quickly slammed it into 3rd and was almost passing him when it happened again........ So I got it into 4th and was creeping ahead of him at around 70 when I had to quickly slow down because of a car doing the speed limit ahead of me so I had to slow down and that was the end of it.

From what I could tell the Lancer had an exhaust and some sort of gauges on the windshield bar on the drivers side. I didn't hear a turbo so I don't know what it could have been.. or maybe I didn't hear it over my exhaust.

This was pretty embarrassing but you live and learn. I know I would take him on a straight away or on the freeway.

lol that made a good story. With all your tire spinning you would have killed him if you had some traction and shifted good lol.

Did you hurt your car?

haha thats the only thing I miss about the dual overhead cam in my 3000GT... it redlined alot higher. I have a 2000 3.8 and it seems to redline REAL quick. I think the 3.8 is pretty close to the 3.0 non turbo 3000GT but the limiter would stop the race at 118... the 3000GT doesn't have that and I've had it up to 135. I've been tossing the idea of doing away with the limiter but have been dealing with other issues.

was it a lancer or a evo? all evos are turbo, all lancers are NA..the gauges might be a air/fuel mixture gauge and a boost gauge depending if it was a evo or not...

if it was a evo, im surprised you where able to catch up to it...

Yeah I really don't think it was an evo. I know i wouldn't have been able to touch it. I have a friend at work that has an Evo that puts out over 350hp at the wheels. He gave me a ride and my back and neck were sore for the next few days from the Gs that thing puts on you. I really have no idea if the guy i raced had anything major under the hood but the exhaust was the only thing i know for sure he had.
