RE: Hypertech???
$300 out of your wallet and about 3 HP...That's expensive power.
Truthfully you're going to be best off doing basic bolt-on mods, check out the "General Modification" sticky at the top of this section, it'll explain what you should do. If you have specific questions after reading through that you can let us know!

I disagree about it being a waste of money. I think most of those who say that probably never had one and are just repeating what they hear. I take it you're referring to the Power Programmer? You should be able to find one relatively inexpensive on fleabay, as I did for my 96. With it, you can change and firm up your trans shift points, change your tuning based on fuel octane used, make the cooling fan kick on sooner, correct the speedo due to rear gearing/tire diameter differences. It certainly can serve a purpose, and if you pick up a used one cheap, so much the better. Will you notice a difference? Yep! I once went against an LS1 at the light, and he had to work awfully hard to beat me....by a nose! Also keep in mind that the unit is year specific, so you need to get one made for your year.

For the money you pay your better off with a mail order tune. Yeah you can change your shift points and what not but you can't calibrate the thing to compression, cam specs, etc. Plus you gain no real horse power. Dyno tune is the best.

i was planning on some bolt ons, but not all out just yet, the power programmer could help me a little, cause really all i need is more acceleration, not more horsepower, but i need like an example of what a mail order tune is cause im kinda new to this, i used to have a honda ricer crap and sold it and bought the camaro
