Okay and to the person above who said If the axle Is 6.5 Inches off the ground, technically the car Is only raised ten Inches If ya have 16.5 Inch Jack stands. Well wouldnt the car technically still be 16.5 Inches off the ground, but really I only gained 10.5 Inches from the cars original height, but technically speaking If the Jack stand can lift 16.5 Inches, than the car will be 16.5 Inches off the ground, not ten Inches right.

Why do you go through all the trouble of removing the crossmember to remove the mount? That's not necessary.

Get the racing jack on sale and jackstands at Harbor Freight and save yourself a bunch of dough -- the quality is fine on these.

16.5 is plenty im 6.2 300lb iv have never extended any of my stands more then half way and i fit fine under the car ramps are nice and make it a lot faster to get the car off the ground but if i could only have one of them it would be jack stands you cant remove the wheels when using ramps

Oh, high-tech math, eh? If your axle tubes were 6.5" above the ground, and you had jack stands that were only 6.5" tall, how much would that jack the tires off the ground? 0".
16.5" tall stands would add another 10" to those 6" stands (10 + 6.5 = 16.5). So what's 10" plus 0"? 10" is how much the tires would be off the ground.

Oh ya talking about the tires being off the ground I though from measuring the ground to body of the car.

That would be the same difference as how much the tires are off the ground, since the rear axle is attached to the body. The only way 16.5" jack stands are going to lift the car 16.5" is if you put them under the tires. But DON'T do that, you'll kill yourself. Or if you had the stands up on blocks the same amount as from the ground to the support point under the car. Again, I wouldn't recommend it.

Okay well on that note Im not sure how tall the axle Jack point Is so Idk how high the car will be off the ground with 16.5 Jack stands or If It will even be enough room to work, move around and change a transmission mount. Because If the car was actually ten Inches off the ground that probably would be much room to work with Idk.
