How do i replace power steering pump hose.

I have this hose that is leaking pretty bad im not sure how to replace it. Is there a special tool to get the hose off or how do i remove it. Also, i recently installed a egr valve and i noticed that i can see about 1mm between the gasket and the egr valve, is that bad or what would cause the gap.

The only "special" tool needed is a flare nut wrench. I dont know the size as I didnt remove my power steering lines when I replaced Sarah's engine. These wrenches are designed to not round the corners of the attaching nuts. Also you may have to remove the power steering pump to get to the hoses on the back of it.
As for the gap in the EGR, there should not be any gap. Remove it again and make sure everything lines up right and that you didnt get any debris in between the valve and gasket. Massey |
I was able to change the hose on my 97 RS without any special tools, but it wasn't easy!

I would have to get a new gasket right. Could it be that one side is tighter than the other, but if i go to tighten the other side couldnt it strip the threads.

There is no gasket where the hoses meet with the pump or the rack. The seal is created by the tapers on the devices and hoses.

I was talking about the egr valve, but what line is this one called so i can get the right replacement hose.
