How to disable auto lights
#21
tomorrow i will put that light sensor to rest once and for all. I was reading all the posts and people have claimed all they did was remove the sensor and used a paper clip in the connector and havent had any problems

If you are going to "rig" your car. Do it right. Get the resistor, some solder, some heat shrink tubing, make a nice job of it at least.

I dont mind my lights turning on when I am heading down the road what I hate about this system is I CANT turn the lights off at night... I cant dark drive to ditch the cops... OK I dont do that but I do need to turn them off when I am approaching the guard gate at the base I work on. They dont like getting blinded by the lights (isnt that a 70's rock song...) My Avalanche and my Dakota which both had the auto lights also had an override which kept me from getting talked to. The normal guards know my car cant do it but when there are new guys there is happens every time.

um.... Yea that is a good way to get my car searched... Me searched and they could hold me at the gate for a while... No thanks... I prefer to go through the gate without any issues.
It usually shuts them up when I show them that the lights will not turn off.

And thank you for your service. I never get tired of hearing that myself. I didnt have to stand guard duty (I was an AT in the Navy), but I had plenty of friends that did and they told me all sorts of stuff that would happen. One guy fell asleep as he pulled into the gate and ended up smashing the concrete barrier used to slow traffic at the gate. how the hell he did it is beyond me... show ID... Fall asleep... smash car... spend the night in the brig... good times.
