Default How come 98-02 SS and Z28s go for so much but the V6 for so little

Now I know that the V6 Camaros lose their value a lot quicker than an LS1 Camaro, but man all the SS's and Z28'sI find aroud here are way over priced. I've found the 00-02 SS's with under 50,000 miles usualy book for around $15k-$17k, but not talking about really, really low mile cars. I've found a couple in that range, but most are being sold for $20k+. Right now there are a couple in my area, one has 98,000 miles and they want $23k, it does have full bolt-ons. A couple more around the 50k mile mark and they want $20kand $22k, they are stock. Can I really talk them down $5k-$7k to around book price? There is an 02, the anniversary edition, with 10k miles for $34,000.

My car, 99' 3.8, books for $6,100. Granted the paint isn'tperfect but it's not bad,it runs good and everything else is in good shape, so I asked $5,600.I've had quite a few people come look at it and no one wanted to pay more than $5,000 for it. I see 80's Iroc's in worse shape than minegoing for $6-$7k. Is it because they are such common cars compared to an Iroc?

I know the LS1 cars, especially the SS, are harder to find than the 3.8 car, but other than the engine and the exterior peices on the SS they are basically the same car. Does the LS1 really give the car the ability to charge that much over the book price? Or is the market just really messed up here?

I've looked on cars.com and it's the same cars that are on autotrader.com. Mybe it's the difference in location, but your car you paid $17k for books for $14k here.

I guess I'm just wondering if thats kinda the norm for them to be so overpriced? I've found a couple good ones, had a lead on an 01', 25k miles for $16,500. A bit over priced but not much, and I'd probably be able to bring them down to around book, but they sold it before I had the finances to buy it. Most of them are $3-4k over book price. I don't mind paying a bit over book if they are in really great shape and have low miles, but a car with 97,000 for $23k, that's stupid. I've tried eBay and around here there are usually only one or two LS1 cars on there, and most I've seen are high mileage cars. I can't buy the car right now anyway, the job I thought I had fell through, but I just got a call about another jobopening, so I may be able to buy one very soon. It's just stressing me out looking for one. It's to the point where I've started looking into other cars, a 350Z or Ford Lighting truck have struck my interest.

they don't make camaros anymore(right now anyway) and so some people think they are worth so much more money for that fact. people are going to ask a lot more for an ls1 than a v6 simply for the fact that a lot of people buy camaros for the power. and you can find z28s for less money than an ss. i have looked at lightnings before and i think a lot of those are overpriced as well. and its not overpriced if someone is willing to pay for it. it took me 6 months of searching everyday to find my car so maybe you need to keep searching till the deal comes

Overpriced is a realitive term, cars go for what the local market will bear. I bought my 01 SS almost 4 years ago for $17,500, it had about 50k on it. I have to car up for sale right now for $13,000, if it was still stock it would be worth nearly what I paid for it, even with 79k on it..

Pretty much everyone above summed it up rather nicely. Personally,I wouldn't evengive somebody 3000 for a V6 Camaro, I'm a strong believer in keeping muscle in the American Pony Car. When they stick these little V6's in them it just goes against the very reason the Camaro/Trans Am was created.
